QUMEA Strengthens Presence in Germany
February 15, 2024

Recent projections from the German Federal Statistical Office highlight a drastic increase in care-dependent individuals in Germany. At the same time, the country is facing the departure of around 500,000 nursing professionals in the next ten to twelve years, and a survey conducted by the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin (ASH) revealed that about 40 percent of nursing staff are actively considering leaving their profession.

Considering these challenging circumstances, QUMEA is committed to enhancing patient safety and relieving nursing staff. Falls, bedsores, and the shortage of nursing professionals present serious problems that not only jeopardize patient safety but also impact the efficiency of nursing staff.

Initial QUMEA projects are already underway in Germany, including collaborations with the Hannover Medical School (MHH), the University Medical Center Mannheim (UMM), Caritas-Hospital St. Josef in Regensburg or the BDH Clinic Greifswald. Additional pilot projects and installations are in the planning stage. In November 2023, QUMEA received the prestigious WeCare Award from a distinguished jury.. This month, QUMEA has opened a new office on the premises of CUBEX ONE with the support of NEXT MANNHEIM and the 5-HT Digital Hub – Chemistry & Health. The office is directly adjacent to the University Medical Center Mannheim (UMM), enabling close collaboration with medical institutions.

To better serve the German market, QUMEA has formed a dedicated team, with Marcel Schevemann as VP Germany and Silvana Lamparska as Customer Success Manager. Both have come on board as full-time employees and will strengthen local capabilities.

With over 20 years of experience as a nurse and manager, Silvana Lamparska has contributed her expertise to various medical institutions throughout the country, including the University Hospital Heidelberg, Bundeswehr Hospital Ulm, and the University and Rehabilitation Clinics Ulm (RKU), before joining QUMEA. Lamparska emphasizes, «Digitization in nursing is a personal concern for me. I am well-acquainted with the daily challenges on the wards.» She further notes, «Digitization is intricately connected to change management. I look forward to supporting nursing teams in their digital journey and demonstrating the benefits these changes can bring for both patients and the nursing staff. It’s crucial that we collectively acknowledge and actively harness the advantages of digitization.»

Marcel Schevemann, an advocate for innovative healthcare technologies, brings over 17 years of experience in sales, market management, marketing, and business development to QUMEA. He served as the Segment Manager Healthcare for the DACH region at Ascom. Reflecting on his experience, Schevemann states, «During my tenure at Ascom, I had the opportunity to work with QUMEA and was impressed by the simplicity of the solution, which can provide tremendous added value.»

By establishing a business unit in Germany, QUMEA emphasizes its commitment to being closer to customers and further advancing its expansion.
