QUMEA moves into the Promulins retirement centre

The Promulins retirement centre in Samedan relies on QUMEA: resident care is supported by radar-based mobility monitoring. The common goal: fewer falls, greater safety for residents and emotional relief for relatives and carers.

At the Upper Engadine Promulins Samedan and Du Lac St. Moritz retirement centres, the focus is on the autonomy and individuality of residents. In order to fulfil this requirement, the institutions are adopting innovative approaches: even the smallest movements in the residents’ rooms are recorded with the help of a radar system. This data is analysed and translated into patterns. The care staff are informed via an app if a fall is imminent and can intervene at an early stage.

Thanks to the radar technology used, privacy is guaranteed at all times. Instead of an image, points of movement are detected that do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about personal data such as age, gender, posture or other unique recognisable features. The QUMEA app also enables customisation for individual residents so that personal needs can be addressed. Residents feel free and can follow their own daily routine, which leads to a greater sense of well-being and an improved quality of life.

With QUMEA, care staff can concentrate on their core tasks while the safety of residents is guaranteed. Especially in times when there is a shortage of specialised staff, such technological aids are a relevant advantage. Carers are relieved by the alarm being triggered before a fall occurs.
