QUMEA and Ascom work together at Muri Hospital to optimize care processes

Solothurn, June 19, 2024 – Solothurn-based Scale-Up QUMEA and Ascom are successfully collaborating to improve patient safety and quality of care while reducing costs at Muri Hospital.

As part of a continuous optimization of care processes and patient safety, Muri Hospital decided to partner with QUMEA. This cooperation relied on dedicated collaboration and innovative thinking to not only improve the quality of care, but also to reduce costs and increase the safety of patients and nursing staff.

The complexity of the task that had to be accomplished within the given infrastructure required a high level of expertise and commitment. Thanks to a well-structured team, a high level of motivation and a clear vision, this challenge became an opportunity to significantly develop and improve the QUMEA system.

A decisive moment in the project was the integration of an interface to Ascom. The QUMEA alarm is controlled via the patient call system at Muri Hospital. The original plan was to trigger the alarm via the mobile ward PCs, but this did not prove successful in everyday ward life. The experts from Ascom, partner for the call system at Muri Hospital, contributed their specialist knowledge and, together with the QUMEA specialists, developed the necessary interfaces to enable smooth integration of the monitoring system into the existing nurse call system. The joint solution with Ascom proved to be extremely effective, was easy to use and also increased employee satisfaction.

The key roles at Muri Hospital were played by Sarah Luginbühl, co-head of the acute geriatric ward, and Madeleine Kiefer, nursing project manager and nursing expert, whose commitment and expertise were instrumental in driving the project forward. They were supported by Beatrice Zeindler, Head of Nursing Services, and Deborah Leuenberger, who oversaw the introduction of QUMEA.

The collaboration between Muri Hospital, Ascom and QUMEA is an outstanding example of how innovative technology and dedicated teams can sustainably improve the quality of care and patient safety.
